Cohen’s Allegation
Afterwards, Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, suggested that Jared Kushner had already flipped on his father-in-law. As a result of the criminal investigations, Trump’s business empire has come under scrutiny. However, Cohen did not offer any proof but did suggest this was the case because Kushner had not been mentioned much. In a tweet on Wednesday, Cohen noted that Kushner is not named in “all the controversy, indictments and arrests” surrounding the investigation. Assuming Kushner was already cooperating with prosecutors, he speculated that this was the reason. The relationship between Cohen and Trump deteriorated in 2017 after Cohen became one of Trump’s closest confidantes. Cohen was investigated by federal prosecutors for hush-money payments to women who claimed to have affairs with Trump, as well as lying to Congress about Trump’s business dealings with Russia. Following a guilty plea, Cohen was convicted of multiple federal crimes including lying to Congress, tax evasion, and bank fraud. As a result of his conviction, he has become one of Trump’s most vocal opponents. He is currently being held under house arrest while serving his sentence. As CNBC previously reported, Cohen has cooperated with prosecutors and provided evidence against his former boss since at least 2019, with the hope of reducing his prison term. Kushner’s representative did not respond to Insider’s request for comment. A Manhattan grand jury filed a 15-count indictment against the Trump Organization and Allen Weisselberg, its chief financial officer, on July 1. The charges include grand larceny and tax fraud. In a court filing, prosecutors described how executives at the company banded together and avoided taxes for years. According to the indictment against Weisselberg, the prosecutor listed a co-conspirator twice, so speculation may have begun that a member of Trump’s entourage may face charges. The Washington Post reported in June that Weisselberg, one of Trump’s most trusted staffers, had never flipped on his boss. In the wake of the Trump scandal, commentators have suggested that the threat of criminal charges and prison time may tempt members of Trump’s family to turn against him. A statement by Cohen last summer suggested that Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, may have been involved in crafting false credibility evidence on Trump’s behalf. As of yet, no evidence has been found to support that. Ivanka Trump could provide evidence that is damaging to her father, according to Mary Trump, the former president’s estranged niece. In July, Ivanka told The Daily Beast that her husband’s family is legitimately very wealthy. “This seems counterintuitive, but I believe Ivanka has more to lose and more to gain. While speculation has been swirling that Kushner and Ivanka have distanced themselves from the former president, the two have yet to confirm it. Rumor has it that Kusher wants to focus on his book and to continue to praise his diplomatic achievements in the Middle East, which include some initiatives that benefit the government of the United Arab Emirates for which Barrack is accused of lobbying illegally.
Conclusion
The New York Times reported in June that Kohen had alleged that Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, had created false evidence on behalf of Donald Trump. This has not been established.
